Greenlam’s Environmentally Friendly Laminates

By Voize

Manufacturer of high-pressure environmentally friendly laminates, Greenlam Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, today announced that the company had completely bucked the downward trend of the global financial crisis, more than doubling revenue in Malaysia and Singapore in its current financial year.

Headquartered in New Delhi, Greenlam established a sales and distribution centre in Malaysia in 2005 and has grown rapidly to become a leading supplier of laminates for the interior design industry.

As a measure of its exceptional growth, in its 2008/2009 financial year (April 1, 2008 – March 31, 2009), Greenlam Asia Pacific achieved a total revenue of US$3.7 million (RM12.6 million).

In its 2009/2010 financial year, which ends on March 31 this year, the company has already achieved a total revenue of US$7.2 million (RM24.6 million) in the last nine months, and targets to achieve over US$12 million (RM41.1 million) at the end of this financial year.

Moving forward, Greenlam Asia Pacific forecasts to achieve 50 percent growth year-on-year for the next three years to generate a target revenue of US$50 million (RM171.3 million).

Greenlam’s parent company, Greenply Industries Ltd, was established in 1984 in India and today has a presence in over 60 countries with a total annual turnover globally of more than US$180 million (RM 616 million).

Manufactured to the strictest global standards, the company was awarded the prestigious GREENGUARD certification by the GREENGUARD Environment Institute of the US in 2008, the first Asian company ever to receive the award.

More recently it was awarded GreenLabel certification by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC), a first for an Indian company, and the first company globally to have its entire product range of more than 400 laminates certified by the SEC.

And, it was the first company in India to be awarded the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.

Mr. Saurabh Mittal, 34, Managing Director, Greenlam Asia Pacific, and the son of Greenlam’s founder, was in Malaysia today to meet senior executives from the architecture, interior design and building industries. “Greenlam was established on an eco-friendly platform and is one of the key reasons for our success worldwide,” said Mr. Mittal.

“Our dedication to the highest environmental standards have gone a long way to strengthen our position in the South Asian region and, in Malaysia, supports our aim of taking the number one position in the laminates industry,” he said.

“As awareness of the environment grows amongst consumers, awareness of the detrimental effects of pollutants grows as well”, he added.

“Our products help to ensure that ourselves and our families have a healthier environment for work, play and living.”
